Okay so I have a science research project (SRP) it’s this whole big thing where I pick a topic or question and have to do an experiment.

Well my project is "how does the color of light affect the absorption of heat?"

I’m going to get 4 groups of four plastic cups of water. I’m going to have one lamp with regular light shining on them. Then, somehow I’m going to change the color of light of 3 of the groups. The colors I’m using: red, green, and blue. My question is, how do I change the color of light without changing the light bulb?

I don’t want to use four different light bulbs because that means four different same brand lamps and I don’t have that. My teacher put a comment on my paper saying that I have to have all of this running at the same time. Not at different times.

Now my question for you is, how do I change the color of light without changing the light bulb?

I wanted to use those transparency sheet teachers use for Overhead Projectors, but I went to staples and there was this HUGE pack and it was $30 or so. I only need 4. (clear, red, green, blue)

I’m really lost on what to do. Plus I have to take pictures of my set up and that’s due in two weeks or so and I really want to know how to do this. Plus I have to get my materials and procedures accepted before I can start experimenting. HELP?!?!?!?!?!

-Jasmine
Sorry if it’s kind of confusing. There’s so much more information, but I couldn’t write all of that haha

You might try getting plastic wrap like Saran wrap or Glad, and coloring it with Magic Markers. I don’t know if it would work but try it?

Some projectors have a mute button or an option to switch to another channel. Both of them make it easy to go back and forth.

Hi,

When I was in college circa 2001, my college lecture hall used a Overhead Projector (OHP). But that OHP was not the normal type of OHP that uses a transparent paper (a.k.a. transparency). The normal OHP has a yellow or white lamp situated inside the ‘body’. And you would place the transparency above that ‘body’ and the light from the lamp would project through the transparency and unto mirrors and then onto the screen.

The OHP I want to find does NOT use transparency, in fact, it can project unto a screen anything within it’s view. i.e. objects, or paper.

For instance, you just need to put a paper under the view, then the OHP will reflect that image unto the screen. So you just need to write on that piece of paper and voila, the item is up there on the screen. You can obviously be able to adjust the focus and etc. If i remember correctly, there is no ‘body’ on the OHP, just a flat surface where you put the object/paper and a white flourescent or somekinda white lamp and with the mirrors and such.

My lecturer used it instead of transparencies because it was easier and convenient and cheaper. because u dont need to print it on transparencies. I want to buy this OHP for my work now but I dont know what it the name to search for it.

Please if you could tell me the name or where I can buy it, I’d appreciate it a lot. I dont need an integrated projector for laptops, computers, etc. Just a simple OHP that I am looking for. Thanks.

That was called an "opaque projector." They were handy. You can probably still find these at art stores or online.
