How do you work on old fashion overhead projector?

I picked up an old fashion 3M overhead projector at an auction. I would like to show some of my old family photos on the wall with it at a family reunion as well as some old childhood drawings on construction paper that are done with crayon. Can you tell me how to run this machine so it shows up on a wall. Thanks!!
If it is an opaque projector that will work fine, but I suspect that you have a transparency projector, which is common. I have one in the room down the hall. A transparency projector, the one with the light below a glass and a lens on a goose neck above, only works with things that light can shine through. An opaque projector is big and you put the object into a very very well lit, read hot enough to burn paper and other stuff, area and the image is projected onto a wall. There should be a door or crank/lever that opens the cavity into the well lit area, insert object, stand back and look. You may need to replace bulbs and whatnot.
If you have an Overhead Projector you can project loads of bright light onto the images, and don’t turn on the lamp on the projector. In a dark room the images will show up if they are bright enough - like with a few desk lamps shining on the photo. Again, watch out for fire.

If the projector is the opaque type I’m think of, there should be a small table on which to place your photos. art, whatever. This is brightly illuminated. (should be lamps with your projector)
Above this is a mirror and lens that collects the image, turns it 90 degrees, and projects it on a wall. It should contain a mirror, or prism and a lens. The lens should focus.
