I need something similar to an overhead projector sheet but I can’t justify buying a whole pack. Any ideas?

For my Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain course, Betty Edwards includes a view finder containing an Overhead Projector sheet as one of the materials. I assumed any sheet of plastic (i.e. a plastic sleeve made for a binder) would work, but now I discovered she wants the reader to write on it using a white board marker (and wipe it off afterwards). Any ideas on how I can get a one or two overhead projector sheets, or else, are there any easy alternatives?
All the packs I’ve seen are $50+ (in Australia).

Try an art store. You can often buy individual sheets of various kinds of paper and other materials.

The ghetto way would be to scour your home for transparent plastic from product packages and see if any of them work. Lots of things come wrapped in clear plastic, especially electronics. For example, a brand new laptop usually has a clear plastic film over the LCD for protection which would probably be ideal.

A decent homemade overhead projector?

Is there a simple (and cheap!) way to make an Overhead Projector for showing some transparency images on my wall? I figure all I’d really need is a light box underneath with a mirror and lens over it to project the image. Were could I find a lens to use (if this method would even work of course)? Would this produce clear images or would it be fuzzy?

those projectors had special lens on base, and the upper part had two lens’s. along with super brite projector lens.
I am willing to bet there are a lot of schools that have a storage room full of them.

ive got to present a magazine pitch to my COM class and i figured if i created a cover for the magazine it’d win some extra points. the problem is we only have an Overhead Projector to use. the professor supplied us with transparent sheets so im wondering if its possible to use a regular printer to print onto the transparent sheet. helpppp please!

Wow! Dark ages!

Ask your professor for a slate.

Or maybe papyrus.

How do you work on old fashion overhead projector?

I picked up an old fashion 3M Overhead Projector at an auction. I would like to show some of my old family photos on the wall with it at a family reunion as well as some old childhood drawings on construction paper that are done with crayon. Can you tell me how to run this machine so it shows up on a wall. Thanks!!

If it is an opaque projector that will work fine, but I suspect that you have a transparency projector, which is common. I have one in the room down the hall. A transparency projector, the one with the light below a glass and a lens on a goose neck above, only works with things that light can shine through. An opaque projector is big and you put the object into a very very well lit, read hot enough to burn paper and other stuff, area and the image is projected onto a wall. There should be a door or crank/lever that opens the cavity into the well lit area, insert object, stand back and look. You may need to replace bulbs and whatnot.

If you have an overhead projector you can project loads of bright light onto the images, and don’t turn on the lamp on the projector. In a dark room the images will show up if they are bright enough - like with a few desk lamps shining on the photo. Again, watch out for fire.

What can I do as an alternative to a Powerpoint presentation?

I need to make a presentation but don’t want to go for the same old Powerpoint presentation format that everyone uses. Not too keen on Overhead Projector either as this seems a rather dated way of doing it. Any suggestions of a quirky alternative to powerpoint?

I’ve done this before - it takes skill and time but Macromedia Flash can blow every powerpoint presentation out of the water.
