What can I do as an alternative to a Powerpoint presentation?

I need to make a presentation but don’t want to go for the same old Powerpoint presentation format that everyone uses. Not too keen on Overhead Projector either as this seems a rather dated way of doing it. Any suggestions of a quirky alternative to powerpoint?
I’ve done this before - it takes skill and time but Macromedia Flash can blow every powerpoint presentation out of the water.

well, you might find some other presentation software, which you probably would need a license to use and also a bit of knowledge if you are going to use it for 1st time…

As mark P said, Flash is very good. Macromedia Director will give you more functionality than even flash will. Unfortunately some basic programming skills need to come into play. If you are going to include video footage you can actually get as much functionality out of a DVD as you can with a powerpoint presentation so you could try that route (there are various very simple DVD creation programmes)

Using Macromedia Flash, Adobe ImageReady, Swish and even HTML with Javascript we can create powerpoint like presentaion. Using StarOffice or OpenOffice we can create Powerpoint presentaion.
I think you want an alternate way to do presentation,
1. Create a video file(use WindowsMovieMaker ) add sounds to it.
2. There is many ways to make ur presentation interactive. Try to learn dancing and singing… sorry just kidding

Apple has an excellent presentation program called Keynote which produces presentations which tend to be visually more interesting. You can never go wrong with additional props and larger printouts of material or a little humour
Just make sure the tone of the presentation is suitable for the subject matter.
